A man named Michael joined the department
in which I work. He was good to most of the staff. He
was discourteous and abrupt to me.
Michael especially pleased our manager.
The manager seemed to like him.
When the manager was watching, Michael
was polite to me, but not at other times.
I heard Michael's voice whenever he spoke
to people - the department was accommodated in one large
room. I was aware of him whenever he walked past me.
After a while our manager and my only
friend at work became distant. I thought that Michael
had turned them against me.
I felt pain and fear. I couldn't
concentrate on my work.
I tried everything possible to change the
situation. I regularly said 'Good Morning' to Michael.
Nothing changed. I tried ignoring him. Nothing changed.
I couldn't complain, because he did
nothing illegal.
I felt anxious, frustrated and hopeless. |
