I walked into a store. A salesperson
rushed to a table laden with towels. He arranged the
goods. The sign displayed a 40% discount.
I looked. My eyes opened wide. My face
expressed enthusiasm.
Some passers-by saw an excited client.
Did that attract more people to the store? Had the
salesperson manipulated me? Or was I paranoid?
I went to the furniture department. I
closely looked at some chairs. I didn't buy any.
As I left the department a saleswoman
laughed loudly. I felt paranoid. My face expressed pain.
Some clients saw a customer who was sad
to leave the department. Did that attract a few more
people to the section? Had the saleswoman manipulated
